Henry Cavill on his reasons for leaving The Witcher cast
In a series of Instagram posts Henry Cavill attempts to clarify why he won't continue as Geralt.

For better or worse, "The Witcher" will be getting a new lead actor. Season 3 of the series will be the last for Henry Cavill and Liam Hemsworth will continue from season 4.
"My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my sword for season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf," Henry Cavill wrote on his Instagram page. "As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such wonderful depth to him. Enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find."
Changing the lead actor in a series that has progressed so far will always leave a vacuum. A sad one for "The Witcher" fans, but what are Henry Cavill's reasons for leaving?
Officially, the actor hasn't given a precise reason for his departure, which he announced in October 2022, but it's rumored that it was due to creative differences.
We all know Henry Cavill is a fan of the books and games of "The Witcher" and have heard him say in the past that he wasn't happy with Geralt's dialogue and how the series is directed. After the release of "The Witcher Season 2", Lauren Hissrich revealed that Henry Cavill sent her several notes about Geralt's dialogue.
"A lot of the notes he was sending to me were about Geralt's dialogue— could he, first of all, say more? Everybody came out of season 1 laughing and loving Geralt's fuming. But Henry was saying that when you read the books you spend a lot of time in Geralt's head. So how can we put that on the page?" Lauren told The Hollywood Reporter.
During another interview, Cavill stressed on the situation, saying, "It's important for me to have the character be three-dimensional. And it's tricky to do, as I was saying, either because there's no certain vision and there's a certain set storyline and plot. And so, it was about me trying to find Geralt's place within that. All of my asks and requests were along the lines of just being faithful to the source material."
It was also rumored that Henry Cavill was dropping the role "The Witcher" to focus on the DCU project, but Henry debunked this claim in another Instagram post.
Whatever the ultimate reason for leaving, we are sad to see Henry go.
